We are looking for people to serve SYOG as :
Singapore 2010 YOG:
The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), from 14-26 Aug 2010, will receive some 3,600 athletes and officials from 205 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), along with estimated 800 media representatives, 20,000 local and international volunteers, and more than 500,000 spectators. Athletes-aged between 14 and 18 years-will compete in 26 sports and take part in a Culture and Education Programme (CEP). (source: www. Singapore2010.sg)
It is youth-focused. It is an integration of sports, culture and education.
The Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity:
The Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organizing Committee (SYOGOC) has given the Church, an opportunity to participate in the inaugural international event. Church members will get to serve Singapore and to interact with other youths from other parts of the world. (5 volunteer jobs, besides interpreters, have been reserved for the Church.)
The Registration:
SYOGOC and The Presbyterian Church in Singapore (PCS) will co-host a “Youth Olympic Games Volunteers (YOGV) Registration” at Glory Presbyterian Church on Sun 11 Apr 2010, 3-5 pm or at Trueway Presbyterian Church on Sat 24 Apr 2010, 2-4pm to rally those who had already signed up and those who are going to sign up as YOG Volunteers.

The Commitment:
The generic commitment with exceptions, is that all volunteers must be able to commit at least 7 days (4 consecutive days and 3 days in shifts. Minimum 5-8 hours per day) during the Games (14-26 Aug 2010).
The Appeal:
Kindly encourage your friends and church members to attend the above meeting and sign up as Youth Olympic Games Volunteers on the spot. Our target groups are:
- Youths and young adults from ITE, Polytechnics and Universities
- Adults, senior citizens and retirees.
For your information, Primary, Secondary and JC students will be mobilized by MOE to serve as Youth Olympic Games Volunteers under their respective schools.
